Join us for a moment of silence, storytelling, and performances by adoptee artists as we collectively mourn, memorialize, and honor the adoptees who have not survived their adoption, deportation, or struggles with mental health. ✊ Together, we will commit to fighting for citizenship and justice for ALL adoptees and ensure that no adoptee is left behind.
This #NationalADOPTEEAwarenessMonth, join Adoptees For Justice as we reclaim #WorldAdoptionDay with our #WorldAdopteeDay Twitter Chat on Nov 9th 8-9 pm ET. Lately, Twitter has been a hard place for adoptees. On World Adoptee Day, we’re taking back the adoption narrative from adoptive parents, adoptive agencies, and governments with our lived experiences and truths. Join us in speaking truth to power, listening and learning how we can support each other among and across our different adoptee communities, and building collective power to fight for our rights as adoptees.
Do transnational adoptees identify as immigrants? Or, do we mainly feel “American” (or citizens to the countries where we were adopted?) This Who We Are panel will first have a presentation of Emma Wexler’s Honors Thesis, Invisible Immigrants: The Politics of Transnational/racial Asian American Adoptees, followed by members of Adoptees for Justice who will discuss the importance of the Adoptee Citizenship Act.
