Stop the Deportation of US Adoptees
We are asking for your immediate support to prevent the deportation of a husband, a father, a son, a brother. Michael was brought to the US in 1977 at the age of 5 to be adopted by an American family. When the adoption was finalized the presiding Judge congratulated the family on the adoption and their new American citizen.

I would like to express my great concern regarding the upcoming deportation of an Intercountry Adoptee who had been legally adopted at the age of 5 years old in 1977 from Colombia by a loving American family. Michael Bent (Luis Doncel) is now an adult, married and expecting his first child in 6 months. Instead of being with his partner, he is in Immigration Holding at BRISTOL COUNTY HOUSE OF CORRECTIONS and scheduled for deportation on March 30th.
I urge you to stop the deportation of adoptees now. They were brought here as children to be an integral member of an American family. They are the children of U.S. citizens, and are members of families and communities. Deporting them to a country where they do not know the language, culture and likely do not have any known family is cruel and inhumane. Adoption is not supposed to be temporary- it is permanent. The deportation would be unfair and unusual punishment not just for the adoptee but also for the family they would leave behind.
I urge you to immediately contact the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration & Customs Enforcement to demand they halt the deportation of Michael Bent (Luis Doncel) and release him on supervision immediately.
